With this style, the windows sit at adjacent angles to one another. They are fitted in a way that creates a gradual semicircle shape that’s both eye-catching and sophisticated. If you want to stand out, this is your go-to option.

How do you hang curtains in a bow or bay windows?
A bay window will enhance the natural characteristics of your home. But what happens when you need to close your curtains at night? Rest assured that you’ll still be able to do so. As long as you choose the right fittings, hanging curtains is straightforward.
If your unit has three sections, buy a specialised rod that allows the curtain to be fully closed. Special hooks with gaps pass through the attachment. Bendable rods are available too which are designed to work with arc-shaped bow windows.
Will bay or bow windows add value to my home?
Bay or bow windows will improve the kerb appeal of your property while also increasing its market value. Internally, you’ll benefit from more square footage that can be used to create a reading area or nook and cranny for children to play in. The wide glazed surface of your windows will let more light in, making your room brighter and creating a better sense of space. You’ll also benefit from a 180-degree view.
Although costlier than normal windows, the range of benefits included with bay or bow windows means they’re worth the extra investment.
How many sides will my bay window have?
If you opt for the classic version, your window will have three sides that form a trapezoid shape and sit apart from the wall. One window will face outward. The other two will sit at a 45-degree angle to the wall.
The above option is the most popular. If you want to stand out from the crowd, go for a box version. This is rectangular and sits away from the house, its side windows forming 95-degree angles. Armchairs and other furniture can neatly be inserted into the formed alcove, due to the absence of angled sides.

How are bow and bay windows different?
They’re similar, in that they perform the same function. Namely: to create more space and let lots of light into your home. A bay window comprises three windows that convene at angles ahead of the exterior wall. A bow window, contrastingly, could include six or more windows.
Both these options are stylish and will add value to your home. But remember that the bow style is wider (that’s how it creates the curved effect).
Will I be able to open my bay or bow windows?
Unlike picture windows – which are static and designed to let in light – this style is fully functional. The design of each varies slightly but you get to decide which windows open. The bow style is typically thinner and smaller, resulting in an arc effect. This means that only a section of a pane might be operational.
You can design your windows how you want. Get in touch for advice and some guideline costs.
What can I put in a bay window?
Why not make the most of all that space by adding a dedicated area for reading. Add some cushions to make the area homely and choose seating with a dedicated storage compartment underneath. Otherwise, why not just add a couple of comfy chairs and use the space to sit and socialise with friends.
