How good are composite doors?
A new entrance door will make your home safer, more energy-efficient, and stylish. Each one we make is created in a hot, high-pressured environment to make it strong and resistant to weather. This means your door will be protected from high winds and heavy rain. It will also be harder to break into.
Compared to uPVC, a high-quality composite door will lower your energy costs. Yours can be personalised by adding one of many textures, shades, or door furniture.
What’s the lifespan of a composite door?
If looked after, your front door will last a long time. We manufacture ours using CFC-free polyurethane foam. It’s resistant to water and thermally effective. This prevents the core from getting wet, which would otherwise create a bowing effect.
By cleaning your door and removing dirt from its frames, you can increase its overall lifespan to as much as 80 years.
Are composite doors less expensive than uPVC?
uPVC doors are thinner and use fewer materials. This makes the production process simpler and faster. uPVC front doors are, therefore, cheaper and can include decorative glass to introduce more light.
A composite door is more energy-efficient than a uPVC equivalent, and is likely to last longer.
What does ‘composite door’ mean?
Composite refers to the variety of materials used in the door’s construction. This contributes to overall strength and durability. Our doors feature 100% CFC-free foam instead of a timber core. This prevents bowing due to water exposure or extreme temperatures. We fit our entrance doors with high-tech security locks for extra security.
What material is best for a residential door?
Timber doors come in many finishes and exhibit classic appeal. They can be shaped and sized to suit any doorway but need more upkeep and are more easily damaged by weather.
Made from high-quality materials compressed together for extra strength, they’re safe and long-lasting. Ours feature CFC-free foam to keep your home insulated and your bills low.
This material is strong and resistant. It’s perfect for front doors, due to its competitive price. PVCu can be finished, textured, and coloured to replace the look of traditional timber.
What should I look for when choosing a composite door?
If style is your priority, wooden doors boast a timeless and traditional look. Composite and uPVC doors can, meanwhile, be customised to suit your design preferences.
Also consider your doors’ U-value, its insulatory capacity, and the quality of the security hardware it’s fitted with.
