Lantern Roof Conservatories

  • Make a statement by enhancing your home with one of our energy-efficient lantern roof conservatories. Grace and style perfectly combine to create a contemporary living space that adds plenty of practical value too.

It’s the two-tier ‘wedding cake’ effect created by the lantern roof that makes it hard to ignore. These two levels are separated by a windowed row, which creates a stylish and attractive design which will enhance any home.

With an extensive experience of designing and fitting lantern roof conservatories in Cornwall, Redruth, and the local areas, we will enhance your home and make it stand out from the crowd for all the right reasons.

With a lantern roof you can flood your living space with light: even when the skies are grey, a lantern roof conservatory stays bright, resulting in a room that feels spacious and open all year round.

Whether you’re adding a lantern roof as an extension onto an already existing conservatory, or building an entirely new lantern roof conservatory, our lantern roof conservatories are made to an incredibly high standard, so you can relax in this luxurious living space, safe in the knowledge that it is completely weather resistant.

A timeless design built to your specification

The ever-enduring look of a lantern roof conservatory makes it perfect for older properties. Each one exudes that must-have heritage look which is the exclusive realm of Edwardian and Victorian properties.

Want something more contemporary? We can build a modern lantern roof designed to suit your tastes and which will enhance the natural features of your home.

Light and luxury combine in the same living space

Even during dreary autumn or winter mornings, your lantern roof conservatory will invite lots of light in, making your room feel less enclosed and more connected to your home and garden instead.

Whether you’re adding a roof to an existing conservatory or adding it to a house extension, rest assured that our structures are built to the highest standards, so you won’t need to worry about the longevity of your new living space. Instead, you’ll be able to enjoy a room fit for all seasons.

  • A Lantern Roof conservatory uses fewer bars to let in even more light. With an extended eaves beam, rather than a flat roof, the internal pelmet and external cornice create a stunning orangery roof style.

A decorative cornice is used outside to hide the guttering and create beautiful sight lines.
The internal insulated pelmet will enable you to enjoy better lighting and thermal performance. You can even opt for integrated spotlights and speakers to enhance your experience.

What does a lantern conservatory look like?

It’s a square or rectangular-shaped addition to your roof that features glazed panes in its centre. These meet in the middle to form a pitched roof. A lantern conservatory can be used in your home (provided the room in question has a flat roof) or as part of an extension project. It normally showcases a decorative cornice which serves to conceal the guttering and which delivers a great view of the sky.

There’s arguably no better way of filling your room with light, no matter what the weather is doing outside. That’s why our lantern roof conservatories are such a big hit with our customers in the Cornwall area.

Will my lantern roof let in more light?

If you want to wash a room through with lots of natural light, this should be your go-to roofing system. You won’t need to turn on lamps or lights until the sun sinks below the horizon. That’s because a lantern roof admits three times more light than a standard window (depending on your specified dimensions). This doesn’t mean your space will become unbearably hot during summer though. We offer a variety of glazing options designed to filter out UV light, as well as tinted glass to minimise glare.

Do roof lanterns let in more light?

Roof lanterns are an incredible way to increase the amount of natural light in a room. Even on grey days, you’ll find that you won’t need to turn on your lights or lamps until the sun goes down. In fact, a roof lantern lets in around three times more light than a conventional window, depending on the size you choose. You may be worried that the roof lantern might let in too much heat during the summer, but we offer different glass options that filter out UV to protect your furnishings, or slightly tinted glass to reduce glare.

Will I lose heat with my new roof system?

You might lose some heat, compared to a tiled insulated roof. But the thermally efficient glass we use will keep this loss to an absolute minimum. By upgrading to triple glazing, you could further prevent warm air from escaping. Every one of our roof lanterns includes an insulated pelmet as standard, so your room will remain habitable all year round. Don’t forget, you’ll also benefit from lots of natural light.

Is a roof lantern easy to clean?

The best way to keep your roof looking good as new is to clean it using a long-handled cleaning product. Simply douse it in warm soapy water and apply to dislodge unwanted grit, dirt, or debris. The best time to perform this routine is during cloudy weather. Sunshine can cause glass to dry quickly, leaving behind streaks.

Stuck for time or don’t want to clean your product? Why not add self-cleaning glass which breaks down dirt –  which then washes away with the rainwater.
