Lean-to Conservatories

  • If your home has a height restriction, it doesn’t have to signal the end of your home improvement dreams. Lean-to conservatories offer an alternative and efficient solution to help people like you overcome this common problem.

You may need a lean-to if you live in a bungalow or lack the space needed to accommodate a normal-sized conservatory. The pitched roof varies in size, ranging from steep (ideal for terraced homes) to shallow (tailor-made for bungalows).

Our lean-to conservatories are energy efficient, light, bright, and designed with year-round living in mind. Create an office, study, lounge, living area, or playroom and customise it to your ideal requirements. Imagine having a year-round space that’s perfect for working, entertaining, or relaxing in.

Complement your new room with carefully chosen new windows and doors. Or, if you’re updating an existing structure, choose from our range of replacement conservatory roofs.

Just think about what a difference that extra space will make. Your home will be that much bigger and will increase in market value too.

  • The Lean-to conservatory is the simplest style of conservatory, with clean lines that give it a contemporary look that make them a popular conservatory for modern houses. The simple shape gives you the maximum space in a highly economical style.

Whether your lean-to conservatory is traditional or contemporary, the style is perfect for properties that have restricted space under the eaves, like a bungalow, or have an area that’s too awkward to accommodate a conservatory. This is because the pitch of the roof on lean to conservatories can vary, so a shallow pitch can fit under a low bungalow roof and a steeper one would be ideal for a terraced house.

Will my structure require foundations?

Although your structure will utilise one of your home’s structural walls, foundations are still a pre-requisite. Without foundations, your lean-to conservatory will be unstable and this could lead to problems further down the line. How deep we dig will vary depending on the type of soil in your local area. Before commencing work, we will instruct a fully-qualified surveyor to conduct tests. This will enable them to determine the soil type and recommend the right groundwork and footings for your proposed conservatory. That way, you can proceed with confidence.

How are standard and lean-to conservatories different?

There are a number of overlapping similarities. For example, most conservatory styles feature extensive glass to let in lots of light.

That said, standard designs are large and showcase pitched roofs, along with fine detailing. Two relevant examples would be the Edwardian and Victorian conservatories, although many other styles exist.

Lean-to conservatories feature a roof that could slope slightly or severely, depending on preference. It will take up less room and won’t extend too far from the external wall of your property.

If you’re unsure and need guidance, you can talk to us or visit our local showroom to experience our collection first hand.

What is a lean-to conservatory?

We install lean-to conservatories in Cornwall, Redruth, and the local area. The simple design embodied by this style is locally popular, perhaps because of its cosy interior which is created by three glass walls extending from your home. Choose a glass roof if you want to let in lots of natural sunlight, or go for a tiled roof if you want a private and comfortable space that isn’t overlooked. If you have no room for a proper conservatory, the lean-to should be your go-to option.

Why choose a lean-to conservatory?

It really is the best option if you have limited space in your garden. Its rectangular layout means that you’ll be able to make the most of the room available by placing furniture around the edges. If you opt for a heavily glazed design, your new area will be washed through with bright light that creates the illusion of more space. That’s without mentioning the pitched roof, which adds a touch of style and makes the lean-to ideal for bungalows or terraced properties.
