Add style, space, and glamour to your home with an orangery. The perfect complement to any home – modern or traditional – orangeries were once a practical garden building used to house and grow a variety of shrubs and trees. Back then, they were owned only by the wealthy. These days, you can own one built to your requirements and at an affordable price too.
How to make the most of your orangery
An orangery can, like a conservatory, be built in a range of building styles. So think about what you want your new room to be used for. Will it be a family room? If so, a square Edwardian style room that minimises space wastage will be best.
Also, think about what roof you want. We offer a range of replacement roofs, including tiled and glass. Tiled is best if your priority is privacy, warmth, and comfort. Glass is better if you want to fill your orangery with light and enjoy great year-round views.
Consider which doors and windows you want. A glass roof might work best with bi-fold doors that open wide to link your inner and outer spaces. French doors could work well alongside a tiled roof to create a cosy room perfect for relaxing in with a good book. We can fit full height glazing to further improve your view or dwarf walls and smaller casement windows, should you want to keep the world at bay a little.
We also offer a range of glazing, colour, and finishing options. Whatever you’re looking for, you’ll have total control over the appearance of your orangery.
Our patented designs enable us to provide you with your dream orangery. Whatever style you go for, you will be creating a stunning and practical living area; choose from our variety of features, styles and colours to make it as individual as you are.

What is an orangery?
Simply put, an orangery is a conservatory that has more solid brickwork and less glass. Whereas a conservatory is usually fully glazed from floor to ceiling, an orangery has solid walls that break up the glass surface. Usually, a dwarf wall will run around the perimeter, as well as pillars at the corners of the construction. The roof is semi-solid; the edge is made of brick but the internal ceiling is glass, letting in warmth and light.
What is the difference between an orangery and a conservatory?
As a conservatory is made almost entirely of glass, it will let light in from all angles and gives unobstructed views of your garden. An orangery, on the other hand, feels more like an integral part of your home as it has dwarf walls, pillars and a semi-solid roof. It functions and feels more like an extension than a conservatory, and is more insulative as well. Deciding between the two is up to you!
Is an orangery warmer than a conservatory?
As an orangery has less glass, it is often more insulative (and therefore warmer) than a conservatory in the winter. This obviously depends on the materials used, as a single-glazed orangery will be much colder than an Atlantic A+rated, double-glazed conservatory.
Equally, as there is more shade in an orangery, it will be cooler in the summer. If you have a conservatory or orangery and want to make it even more insulative you can add a replacement roof or tiled roof.
Is an orangery cheaper than an extension?
In almost all cases an orangery is cheaper than an extension. Equally, a conservatory is cheaper than an orangery. If you’re looking for more space in your home but you’re on a budget, an orangery is a great choice. As we can match the brickwork to your home, it feels more like an integrated part of your house than a conservatory.
